We tackled a real, annoying little problem and built a simple tool for everyone.
Let me share a quick story with you all.
After we launched ListenHub back in May, we quickly hit 10,000 registered users.
Among them, the most special user was an elderly gentleman.
One day, he stumbled upon ListenHub online but couldn't figure out how to use it. He emailed me to ask if we had a tutorial.
My first thought was, "A tutorial? I never even considered writing one for ListenHub—it's just so simple!"
It was a shocking reminder:
A product that seems dead simple to us in the AI world can still feel overwhelmingly complex to the real world.
So, I replied to his email, "We don't have one yet, but I'm writing one right now. I'll send it over as soon as it's done."
I immediately opened Notion and wrote the most straightforward tutorial of my life. Then, I sent it off to him.
We exchanged a few more emails later, and I gradually learned the incredible story of Bill Vick.
In 1957, he served as a Force Recon Pathfinder in the United States Marine Corps. Now in his late 80s, Bill is a warrior on a different front. After years of battling Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF) and surviving four strokes, the fight took his ability to speak.
But that didn’t stop the Marine in him. He founded PF Warriors, a global support community that has grown to tens of thousands, and now uses ListenHub as his personal “voice”, generating audio content with AI to share with his community and help others.
This is the essence of building products: helping real people.
Podcasts are great, but they're just one of many ways to express yourself.
That’s when we decided to build a universal AI voice—something that could create podcasts, perform comedy, deliver speeches, or read novels.
